Expertise

  • Studies, consulting and concepts for large-scale heat storage
  • Many years of project management experience and consortium leadership
  • Integration of renewable energies into the heating sector
  • Technical design and economic evaluation of sustainable heat supply concepts

As a widely recognised expert in large-scale thermal energy storage, Dr Nikolai Strodel has been contributing his expertise to HIC CONSULTING (formerly Hamburg Institut) since 2019. His consulting work focuses on sustainable heating concepts with an emphasis on the integration of renewable energies and the use of large-scale heat storage technologies.

With a doctorate in technology management, he is involved in numerous projects – including the EU and federal projects TREASURE, OptInAquiFer and SysGF – dealing with innovative heat generation technologies and the preparation of strategic reports on future heat supply. Based on his own simulation-supported models, Dr. Nikolai Strodel develops and evaluates local and district heating systems with high renewable generation shares. He leads both extensive research projects and application-oriented projects with direct implementation relevance
