How do companies develop effective climate strategies?

Companies are under increasing pressure to track their emissions transparently, define reduction pathways and implement climate targets in a credible manner. We support you in developing climate strategies that meet regulatory requirements, provide guidance and open up concrete avenues for action.

Your situation

Climate strategies have long since become more than just voluntary sustainability initiatives. Regulatory requirements, rising expectations from customers, investors and business partners, as well as increasing competitive pressure, make climate neutrality a strategic issue for companies and organisations.

At the same time, experience shows that climate strategies cannot be implemented through individual measures or short-term projects. They require robust data, clear priorities and structures that remain viable over many years. Companies need guidance to effectively align regulatory requirements, economic implications and technical possibilities.

Your challenges

Developing and implementing a climate strategy involves a wide range of requirements: these challenges call for a structured approach that combines analysis, strategy and implementation.

  • Robust greenhouse gas accounting across Scopes 1–3
  • Definition of realistic climate targets and reduction pathways
  • Integration of climate issues into processes and corporate governance
  • Establishment of consistent data and reporting structures
  • Identification of economically viable measures for emissions reduction
  • Dealing with hard-to-avoid emissions and carbon removals
  • Involvement of supply chains, stakeholders and regulatory requirements

These challenges call for a structured approach that combines analysis, strategy and implementation.

Why HIC CONSULTING

We are thorough and we are honest. That is why, sometimes right at the start of a collaboration, the notion that publishing climate targets means the bulk of the transformation is complete is quickly dispelled. Our experience of working with companies across various sectors shows that: first an in-depth analysis, then setting targets and communication – in most cases, this is the more sustainable approach.

At the same time, we do not view climate strategies as isolated projects, but as long-term processes of change. Climate neutrality affects processes, investments, supply chains and corporate culture in equal measure. This is precisely where the great opportunities lie: for more resilient business models, better market positioning and an organisation that effectively implements shared goals across departmental boundaries.

Highlight Projects

Consultancy on corporate and product carbon footprints and decarbonisation strategies

The internationally active systems provider for windows, doors and façades sees itself as a pioneer in climate protection within the construction industry. HIC Consulting supports Schüco with consultancy and technical expertise in relation to the company’s own climate strategy and assists with carbon accounting, which at Schüco covers the entire value chain.

Development of a climate strategy, including the definition of climate targets and carbon footprint analysis

We supported this renowned company in the non-ferrous metals industry in compiling its carbon footprint and developing its climate strategy, including the definition of climate targets – all set out in the “OTTO FUCHS Climate Charter”. Furthermore, we advise OTTO FUCHS on carbon footprinting, including for international sites, as well as on monitoring emission reduction measures, and carry out technical potential analyses at other sites.

Integrated Climate Protection Strategy for the University of Münster

HIC Consulting is developing an integrated climate protection strategy for the University of Münster, designed to lay the strategic and operational foundations for a systematic path to climate neutrality. The focus is on greenhouse gas accounting, a potential analysis, the development of effective measures, and a sustainability strategy that ensures the long-term establishment of professional climate protection management.

Are you looking to further develop your climate strategy, or are you just starting your transformation? We would be happy to support you with analysis, goal-setting and implementation.
